The Ross Printing Team
Our Story
Ross Printing is born
Edward Ross starts Ross Printing in a small stationery store in New York.
WINCO Office Supply
After selling stationery and office supplies for Bill Winestock and Al Colton of Win-Co for several years, Edward Ross purchased the company and opened WINCO Office Supply on 907 Broadway in NY, NY, selling pens, pencils and office supplies.
Steve Ross joins the company
Steve Ross joins his father, at 21 after leaving the Navy, in the business as a salesman. Delivering orders to customers in the city by bicycle.
Expanding products and services
During the 1960s, sales grew and the business increased its product line. Ross Printing also added new services.
Offset Printing comes to Ross
The company expanded into offset printing, the rough acquisition of prepress and press equipment along with the staff needed to run it. This precipitated a move to a larger location on E 16th Street
Steve Ross becomes the owner
Phoenix Office Supply was acquired, adding an additional 4 sales people. Steve gained ownership of the company and the business continued to grow.
Production ramps up
To better serve customers by controlling costs and production time, Ross Printing began owning more equipment.
On the move
The business was moved to a larger location on W 24th street.
WINCO is sold
The NYC rat race became too much and WINCO Office Supply was sold to Summit Office Supply
Moving south
Steve moved his family to Charleston, SC and took a well-deserved break.
Ross Sales Associates opens
Break time was over. Steve and, for the first time with his wife, Paula, opened Ross Sales Associates – Custom Creative Printing. They began by brokering printing from their home with their extensive list of national wholesale printing manufacturers and a few local printing companies.
Jeremy comes aboard
In keeping with the post-military path, Jeremy joined the family business after serving in the Army in Desert Storm. The business was moved to offices on Sam Rittenburg Blvd.
Expansion time
The expansion began anew. With the desire of having more control over production time and costs, the business was relocated to a 2000 sq. ft. industrial space and manufacturing equipment was installed.
The Fire
The Fire. Nearly everything was destroyed. With the help of understanding clients and helpful industry friends, there were only minor service disruptions. The business then moved to a larger, 4,000 sq. ft. facility in North Charleston.
Steve retires
Steve Ross retires, leaving the business in Jeremy’s (and Paula’s) good hands.
Acquisition time
Advantage Graphics is acquired, doubling the staff and increasing technical capabilities
Generation transistion
Kimberly Ross (Jeremy’s wife) joins the business after Paula’s retirement.
Adding new services for customers
Ross Printing expanded its product line and in-house services by acquiring Low Country Target Mailing which is Charleston, SC’s most experienced mail service provider. This prompts a move into 8,000 sq. ft. at the current location.
Buidling on success
Jackson’s Printing is acquired.
Again, more space, please
Construction on the property allows for the addition of more storage and production space increasing the square footage to 9500.
Time for a building expansion
Bringing formerly competing businesses and complimentary companies under the Ross Printing and Targeted Mailing umbrella created the need for more space. A building expansion to 10,000 square feet was the perfect solution.
4th Generation
Emily Ross – joins the company, becoming the 4th generation of Ross to provide superior printing (and graphics, and signage and direct mail) to its growing list of happy customers.
